Central support

Alongside your school or deanery, there is lots of specialised central support available to you across the University. 

The sites for new and returning students give a great overview and links to support on a wide range of topics.

A selection of the specialised services are listed below with links to their websites and further information. 

The Advice Place has a wealth of information on their website and also offer appointments to discuss your specific needs.  They cover a wide range of needs including: academic; accommodation; complaints and conduct; harrassment, safety and crime; finances and wellbeing.


Whatever stage you are at in thinking about your future, the Careers Service can support you with information, advice and guidance.  They also host MyCareerHub – a platform advertising jobs and events. 


The Counselling Service supports the mental health of all students at the University, through short-term counselling and referral to other support. 


The Disability Service offers a range of support based on your individual needs and how your disability, learning difference or health condition affects your studies. 


The IAD provides support for your learning development through workshops, online resources, networks and advice.
